Famous Monuments in North India

India is a very diverse country and there is a very rich history that comes with these heritages. These lavish monuments can be seen all over the country. According to UNESCO, India was made eligible to include the Indian sites on 14 November 1977. The very basic framework of the historic monuments depends upon their historical framing conditions as well as from what point of view that monument is being made.

The very first sites that were included in the list were Ellora caves, Agra fort, Ajanta Caves, and the Taj Mahal. The most recent site that is included is Dholavira, Gujarat that too in the year 2021. About 19 of the 36 states and the union territories combined have an internationally recognized World Heritage site, with Maharashtra having the greatest number of sites.

Currently, 40 Heritages in India are recognized by the world. INDIA comes at the sixth position when it comes to the rankings of the number of heritages recognized by UNESCO. There are also 46 different sites in India which are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage tentative list.

Many communities have lived in India and left the places of their history, tradition, and their culture behind that still live in different parts of the country. These monuments depict their artistic development and architectural development. The monuments are not just a simple representation of any sort of community but also it is a symbol of language that conveys something metaphoric and the unity of the people that used to live at that time.

Monuments of Delhi

New Delhi is a super city where there are many different things such as modern as well as Asian, Delhi has a huge role in Indian history which is even visible today due to aids amazing designs and architecture and many different heritage sites, in the past Delhi was ruled by many different powerful empires, and today due to all these different empires we get to see many historical monuments, which increase the beauty of Delhi even more.

Humayun’s Tomb

This tomb is also considered a heritage site by UNESCO, this tomb was made in 1526. It is said that the tomb was made after 9 years of Humayun’s death. This tomb was made by the widow Begum Hamida Banu.

Lodhi Garden

One of the most popular tourist places in Delhi is the Lodhi garden, the Lodhi garden has many different monuments, and it also has tombs, these monuments and the tombs were from the Lodi dynasty. This garden has a tomb of different rulers such as Sikandar Lodi and it also has a tomb of Muhammad Shah.

Qutub Minar

This Minar was built after the defeat of the last ruler. It is also the highest tower, and it has five levels and different projecting balconies. This Minar has three different types of architectural styles, it was constructed by the Aibak. 

The Red Fort 

The Red Fort is also known as Lal Qila, located in Old Delhi and is considered one of the oldest historic forts in that area. It is said that it was the main residence of the Mughals. And the Mughal Emperor named Shah Jahan commissioned the major construction of the development of this fort.  

India Gate

 The India Gate was earlier known as the “All India War Memorial”. This is present astride the Rajpath which is on the eastern side that is the “Ceremonial Axis” present in the capital. This memorial was made in the memory of 90,000 soldiers who fought for the British Indian Army.
