The Statistical Data on different socio-economic aspects of Himachal Pradesh has always been presented by the publication ‘Statistical Abstract of Himachal Pradesh. If we look into its historical background, on 15th April 1948, Himachal Pradesh grew into a centrally administered territory by the combination of 30 former princely states. Physical features

These are as follows- alluvial soils, brown hill soils, brown earth, brown forest soils, grey wooded or podzolic soils, grey-brown podzolic soils, plansolic soils, humus and iron podzols and alpine humus mountain skeletal soils.
Population- An area of 55,673 sq. kms is being covered extendedly by Himachal Pradesh. The total population of the state, as per the census of 2011, is 68,64,602, with a density of 123 persons. The highest density of 407 is in Hamirpur district, and the lowest is recorded in Lahaul-Spiti district. The number of females per thousand males is 972, according to the 2011 census. The decennial growth rate from 2001-to 2011 is 12.9 per cent.
Public health and welfare- The health of the people of the state has improved due to the successful implementation of various health programmes. In the remotest areas of Himachal Pradesh, the provision of health and medical care services has been paid special attention towards it. Rich dividends are being offered to disease control and eradication programmes. On 31st March 2019, the total number of medical institutions in the Government sector that took place was 4,124.
State income- in 2018-19, the per capita income of Rs 176968 was quickly estimated in Himachal Pradesh. Hence, there was a noticeable amount of increase 8.3 per cent over 2017-18 in the state.
