Directorate of Economics and Statistics in Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh has a population of approximately 3 crores (30 million) with the density of  560 per square miles or 220 square kilometres according to the survey done in 2021 and is regarded as the seventeenth most or densely populated state of India. It covers approximately 52,198 square miles (135,192 square kilometre) area that is why it is regarded as the ninth largest state of the country. The state bird of Chhattisgarh is Hill myna while its mammal is buffalo (wild water). Rhynchostylis gigantea is the state flower while its tree is Shorea robusta. 

Directorate of Economics and Statistics

The High Court of Chhattisgarh is located in Bilaspur and Anusuiya Uikey is the governor of Chhattisgarh. The economics and statistics of Chhattisgarh gained approximately 6.7% growth in the year 2017-2018 but with a decline of -1.8% in the year 2020-2021 along with the eighteenth GDP rank while according to sector wise it’s growth is 28% in agriculture, 34% in industry and 38% in services as per 2020-2021 survey. Rs. 117,615 is the per capita GDP of Chhattisgarh. The GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) of Chhattisgarh is approximately Rs. 3.26 lakh crore as per the survey of 2018-2019. The state Chhattisgarh attains its growth in economics and statistics by the growth in the production of industry as well as in agriculture. Agriculture is regarded as the chief or primary economic state occupation along with the gross sowing area 5.788 million hectares and net sowing areas of 4.828 million hectares. Kodo-kutki, pulses, maize, rice etc. are some of the major crops grown in Chhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh has a well developed power sector.

Department of Economics and Statistics

There are following programs which are organised by the department of economics and statistics of Chhattisgarh;

  1. National Sample Survey : In this survey, the department will assemble the data every year on various sub-topics or subjects proposed by the Central Government.
  2. Scheme of MPLADS/MLALADS [MP Local Area Development/ MLA Local Area Development] : It is concerned about the development of MP constituencies and MLA constituencies of Chhattisgarh and for the acceptance, the Competent authority is the District Collector. The MPs get ₹5 crore per year under MPLADS while MLAs get ₹1 crore per year under MLALADS.
  3. Vital Statistics :It deals with the registration of the death of people and birth of infants in order to plan the development of the state.
  4. District Statistical Mechanism : It deals with the collection of data regarding the departments like agriculture, horticulture, forest, industry, fishery etc. in order to identify the gross domestic product of the district as well as the state.
  5. Publications :Some of the useful and important or significant publications for the researchers of the statistics are Janpadiy Samajarthik Samank Vivaranika, Annual Plan of district and Statistical Manual of District.

Conclusion

Chhattisgarh is densely populated as well as the ninth largest area or state of India. It shows high growth in the department of economics and statistics with the help of excellent growth in the fields of production of agriculture as well as industry. It provides steel, coal as well as electricity to other parts of the nation. The Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs awarded the place  Chhattisgarh as the cleanest state title in 2020.
