Cabinet Ministers

Cabinet ministers of India are the officials in the executive branch of the government who are appointed by the President on the Prime Minister’s advice.

The union executive comprises the President, the vice-president, the council of ministers with the Prime Minister as the head. Cabinet ministers of India are part of the council of ministers. Article 75 of the Constitution of India has reserved the Union Cabinet to be composed of the prime minister and the cabinet ministers of India. The Union Cabinet is an important part of the executive branch as it is the top decision-making body of the government.

The Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers

The prime minister is the leader of the union executive. The constitution has vested many powers and responsibilities upon the prime minister of India. The cabinet ministers of India are a part of the Union cabinet and they hold the offices of several important ministries. 

Apart from the prime minister and the cabinet ministers of India, the Council of Ministers also consists of the Ministers of State (Independent Charge), and Ministers of State.   

The current prime minister of India is Mr Narendra Modi. He is also in charge of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Department of Atomic Energy; Department of Space; All important policy issues; and all other portfolios not allocated to any Minister.
