Page :India successfully fires heaviest launch vehicle- GSLV MklIl-DI LV Mklll places heaviest satellite GSAT-19 into orbit. India entered into a select group of nations having their own indigenous cryogenic engine technology, with the successful launch of its heaviest launch vehicle, GSLV Mklll- DI, and placed the country's heaviest satellite till date, GSAT-19, into a precise orbit. ISRO has been trying to master development of an indigenous cryogenic for decades and has used indigenous cryogenic engines on earlier GSLV flights but modelled mainly on Russian design. . On this GS LV,no technological element was bo rowed or adapted from any other space organisation
Fat boy in space India's heaviest rocket weighs around 640 tonnes 1 Height 43.4 metres taken to build it 15yrs. Solid, Liquid and cost Transfer Orbit 300 The launch of GSLV Mk-III is significant as the PSLV, Indian space technology's workhorse, is unable to carry satellites beyond 2,000 kg. GSLV can carry heavier payloads crore It can launch Cryogenic engines use Powered bya indigenously-developedliquid oxygen and hydrogen as propellants rockets as heavy as 4 tonnes cryogenic engine 25 tonnes .Apart from India five countries have successfully developed and deployed cryogenic rocket engines GSAT-19 The crucial communications satellite was put into orbit by GSLV Mk-IlI . This will be India's first satellite to provide internet services using the ka/ku-band
About G-SAT 19: GSAT 19 is a communication satellite. e Business opportunities . The GSAT-19 carries a Ka/Ku- band high throughput communication transponders. It also carries a Geostationary Radiation Spectrometer (GRASP) payload to monitor and study the nature of charged particles and the influence of space radiation on satellites and their electronic components. The spacecraft will open up a lot of new vistas in the field of Internet connectivity, broadband connectivity Apart from India, 5 other countries have Cryogenic Technology: U.S., Russia, France, China,Japan
Background: The successful launch of GSLV-D5 in January 2014 powered by an indigenous cryogenic engine was the first major milestone for the country considering the challenges Isro has had to face in developing it over the past three decades. In 1991, Isro signed a $120-million contract with Glavkosmos of Russia for seven cryogenic rocket engines and also a complete transfer of technology. As the India-Russian agreement was being put in place, the US, in July 1993, arm-twisted Russia into stalling the engine supply saying it flouted the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). The US sanctions on Isro and Glavkosmos were a huge setback to the GSLV programme However, these sanctions caused by geopolitical factors gave a boost to the indigenous cryogenic programme as Isro was forced to develop its technology. A few years ago, Russia brushed aside American apprehensions and supplied seven cryogenic engines to India.
