Modern Indian History

The early modern period of Indian history is considered from 1850 onwards. A major part of this period was occupied by the British Rule in India. It started with the advent of Europeans and progresses through the expansion of British control in India. The economic and administrative policies of British rule prior to the 1857 revolt is a significant part of modern Indian history.
