Potassium Nitrate Formula
This article describes the potassium nitrate formula, also known as the saltpetre formula or the potassium nitrate formula. This alkali metal nitrate is an ionic salt of potassium ion and nitrate ion. It is a natural source of nitrates and is commonly used as a component of food preservatives, rocket fuels, fertilizers, fireworks, and for the removal of tree stumps. The chemical or molecular formula of potassium nitrate is KNO3.
Crystalline solid, white to an off-white colour, odourless, cold, salty and pungent. It looks like a colourless gas and its vapour has a pungent and pungent odour. It is colourless in an anhydrous form. In its natural form, it occurs as the mineral potassium nitrate. It is a powerful oxidizer and is widely used in the manufacture of medicine, fertilizers, and gunpowder.
