Study Up On The UPSC

The coveted Civil Services, Defence Services, and other Government Services are recruited by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), a constitutional agency. Based on the recommendations of the Lee Commission (Royal Commission on the Superior Civil Services in India), the Commission was founded in 1926. In accordance with the terms of the Government of India Act, 1935, the Commission was renamed the Federal Public Service Commission in 1937. When the Indian Constitution went into effect on January 26, 1950, the Federal Public Service Commission changed its name to the Union Public Service Commission. Since then, it has been UPSC’s responsibility to choose the best candidates for India’s Civil Services.

Every year, UPSC administers the Civil Service Exam.

The Preliminary, Main, and Personality tests are the three stages of the Civil Services Examination (CSE). The first and most significant screening test in the selection process, the preliminary examination comprises two objectively formatted papers. Qualified applicants move on to the Mains Examination in the second stage, which has nine papers and is subjective in nature with descriptive responses. These papers include an essay, four general studies papers, two optional subjects (papers 1 and 2), one English paper, and one paper on an Indian language. Candidates who pass the main examination are invited to the final stage, which is the personality test. A group of interviewers will mostly use this stage to gauge a candidate’s personality and suitability for the position.
