Government Schemes UPSC

Ayushman Bharat, the Government of India’s flagship scheme, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017 in order to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). This initiative was created to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its overarching commitment to “leave no one behind.”

Ayushman Bharat is an attempt to transition from a sectoral and segmented approach to health-care delivery to a comprehensive, need-based approach. This scheme aims to implement ground-breaking interventions to address the healthcare system holistically, including prevention, promotion, and ambulatory care at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

Ayushman Bharat Card

The Central Government established the Ayushman Bharat Card to provide people with free health-care services. This program began in September of 2018. Every cardholder is eligible for free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh under this scheme. Anyone can apply for this scheme both online and in person. Ayushman is a health-care program run by the Government of India that provides people with Ayushman Bharat Golden Cards.

Beneficiaries will be given the Ayushman Bharat Yojana Golden Card to ensure cashless, paperless, and portable transactions through the PMJAY scheme. The PMJAY e-card contains all of the patient’s necessary information. It is necessary to present this card when seeking treatment at an empanelled hospital. This is a health card that entitles poor people to free treatment in any government or private hospital. You can apply for this scheme if you are between the ages of 16 and 59 and have a low income.

Objectives of Ayushman Bharat

Ayushman Bharat, the Government of India’s flagship scheme, was launched as recommended by the National Health Policy 2017 in order to achieve the vision of Universal Health Coverage (UHC). • It pays for up to three days of pre-hospitalization and up to fifteen days of post-hospitalization expenditures such as diagnostics and medications.
  • There are no restrictions on the size, age, or gender of the family.
  • Pre-existing conditions are covered from the start.
  • The scheme’s benefits are portable across the country, which means that a beneficiary can seek cashless treatment at any empanelled public or private hospital in India.
  • Services include approximately 1,393 procedures that cover all treatment costs, such as drugs, supplies, diagnostic services, physician’s fees, room charges, surgeon charges, OT and ICU charges, and so on.
