Misconceptions about NEET and Board exams

  • The very first misconception is that the syllabus of boards and NEET are different. The entire NEET paper comes from NCERT only, which means if you’ve studied NCERT, you will surely clear it with the perfect score.
  • Another major misconception students generally have is that we do not belong to the CBSE board. Note that the syllabus of every board is the same. The only difference is that the syllabus is sometimes redistributed among classes 11th and 12th.
  • The next big misconception is that the approach to study for boards and NEET is completely different. Competitive exams have objective questions, whereas boards have subjective questions. No matter whether you’re going to write the answers or tick mark them, the approach is always the same. If you know the concept, it is only possible to answer it correctly.

The only difference between the NEET and Board examination is that when you study for NEET, you need to have a thorough understanding of every concept. On the other hand, while studying for Boards, with minimum revision, you can score good marks. Hence, if you’re studying for NEET, you will be well-prepared for boards automatically. The only point is that you have to prepare sincerely.

When you study both of these together, get prepared for a lot of hard work and consistency as both are equally important. Every day, you will have to spend at least an hour extra to be prepared for both.

If you’re preparing for the 2023 exams, you have a lot of time on your hands. Make the most out of it. However, if you’re planning to sit for the 2022 exams, you have only a few weeks left, so make sure you bring the best to the table. Remember, you can prepare for NEET with Boards exams together if you’re dedicated to becoming a doctor.

Revision Strategy

  • Take out at least 2 hours for revision every day.
  • Stick to the right revision cycle. The day your chapter notes are completed, revise them the very next day. Revise the same chapter after 3 days, followed by 7 days. Keep repeating this cycle until and unless you’re confident of every topic.
  • Keep on participating in revision tests.
  • Sit for at least 2 weekly tests and 1 to 2 monthly tests.
  • Once you’re done with the tests, a thorough analysis of each topic is essential.
  • During the analysis, follow the cycle: silly mistakes < calculation errors < speed < corrections < doubt clarification.

Conclusion

Are you ready for two of the biggest exams of your life? Being a NEET and Board aspirant, it is your time to shine. Although this will be a bumpy road, the results will be worth fighting for. Make sure you strike the perfect balance between the two while taking appropriate care of yourself.
