Undergraduate instrumentation engineering courses are offered under the designation Bachelor of Engineering in Instrumentation Engineering or B.E (Instrumentation Engineering). The area of engineering that is related to measurement is called instrumentation. 

Students in this curriculum receive in-depth instruction in commercial acumen, problem-solving techniques relevant to the sector, and knowledge of production processes. Students will be highly proficient in design drawing, hydraulics and pneumatics, digital systems and microcontrollers, industrial electrical systems and motors, DC electronics and metrology, AC electronics and photonics, and safety applications.

Engineering mathematics, instrumentation fundamentals, electrical and electronic measurements, metrology,  linear integrated circuits,application programming,  industrial management, analogue, transducers, industrial instrumentation, mechanical measurements, and digital electronics, signals and systems, process control,  control systems, etc. are among the typical courses taken for this degree. This four-year programme is career-focused and offers a wide range of job opportunities after graduation.

Eligibility for a B.E. in instrumentation engineering

  • A recognised Board recognised 10 + 2 exam with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as one of the main courses, or its equivalent, is required for prospective candidates.
  • The minimum required aggregate mark for the candidates’ Intermediate level was 55%.
  • For admittance, certain reputable colleges and institutions have entrance exams.

Exam pattern for GATE 2023 Instrumentation Engineering

The GATE IN paper covers significant parts on Engineering Mathematics, General Aptitude, Measurements, Analog Electronics, Electrical Circuits, Control Systems, and Digital Electronics. There are a total of 65 questions, including MCQs, MSQs, and NATs, according to the GATE 2023 IN exam pattern. For MSQs and NAT questions, there won’t be any negative grading.
