Ecology and Evolution is one of the main subjects in the GATE 2023 examination. This year, IIT Kanpur has published the syllabus for GATE Ecology and Evolution on its official website. Since GATE is a very competitive examination, it is very essential for students to be well aware of the entire course and curriculum. To ensure that students must get their desired exam scores, candidates are urged to thoroughly prepare the offered syllabus. After knowing the syllabus, they can plan their preparation as well. The GATE Ecology and Evolution syllabus is closely followed in the formulation of the exam’s question papers. In addition to this, students can thoroughly plan their study routine as well. Exam Pattern for GATE Ecology & Evolution 2023

Students must know the exam pattern before starting to prepare for the GATE Ecology and Evolution 2023 exam. It is necessary for them to prepare only in accordance with the pattern. Each of the 27 papers in the GATE Exam Pattern 2023 is different. Here the Ecology & Evolution 2023 exam schedule is described in more detail manner:

  • General Aptitude, Ecology, Evolution, Mathematics and Quantitative Ecology, and Behavioral Ecology are the six components that make up GATE Ecology and Evolution (EY).
  • Multiple shifts of the computer-based GATE EY will be conducted online.
  • A total of 65 questions totalling 100 points will be included in the GATE EY Question Paper 2023.
  • There will be two different sorts of questions in GATE EY: multiple choice questions (MCQs) and numerical answer questions (NAT).
  • The fundamental subject will be covered in the majority of the GATE EY questions.
  • GATE EY will last for three hours.

About this exam: 

  • Only one or a maximum of two subject papers may be taken by a candidate.
  • Eligibility requirements: 

A candidate or an aspirant can apply and appear for the GATE 2023 examination if and only if they have been pursuing their third year of any undergraduate programme or they are in their higher year or if they have pursued any government-approved degree programme in either Arts, Commerce, Science, Architecture, Technology or Engineering. 

  • The GATE exam in Ecology and Evolution for the year 2023 is open to candidates of any age.
  • Only online submissions through the GATE official website will be accepted.
  • An applicant should only submit one application form, even if they are taking two exams.
  • The GATE 2023 scorecard is valid for three years from the announcement of the results.
  • The dates of the GATE Exam 2023 are February 4, 5, 11, and 12. Each day, there will be two sessions.
  • Along with 28 other courses, the GATE Ecology and Evolution exam will be given, and it will be entirely computer-based (CBT).
  • Exams for GATE 2023 will only include objective-type test questions. There will be some multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in the question pattern, and the other questions could be of the Multiple Select Question (MSQ) or Numerical Answer Type (NAT) variety.

2023 GATE Ecology and Evolution Training

In order to prepare well for the GATE Ecology and Evolution 2023, you must follow a certain routine. As per the experts, we have gathered some of the points for you that you can follow while preparing for it. Here they are mentioned in a detailed manner. 

  • Create a schedule: Candidates should plan their daily schedule according to their preferences. They must set aside 6 to 8 hours solely for preparations. It does not imply that you must study nonstop for eight hours. You can schedule your preparation accordingly and take breaks in between.
  • Set your syllabus priorities: About priorities based on the number of topics, the degree of difficulty, etc. Choosing the sequence in which candidates want to complete their coursework completely determines the priority setting.
  • Take mock tests as much as you can: In order to gain a better understanding of the types of questions and their levels of complexity, candidates must take mock tests. They can assess how well-prepared and how well-performed they are. 
  • Focus: After taking practice examinations, you can focus on your areas of weakness. When a candidate has completed their whole syllabus, it is encouraged that they take the mock exams. Download practice papers for GATE.
  • Don’t worry: Candidates are required to finish their syllabus by the deadline and save the final two weeks for changes. There is no need to panic if you are unable to do so. Three to four days before the exam, you can review your notes quickly. The most effective method for memorization is revision.
  • Stay inspired: Candidates must work hard and maintain their motivation. Maintain your self-confidence and keep studying for the test. Never evaluate yourself against others. Pay attention to your preparation strategy.

GATE 2023 EY Marking Scheme

Understanding the GATE marking scheme is just as crucial as being familiar with the GATE Ecology and Evolution subject and exam format. You can benefit from understanding how exam scores are calculated and disseminated. The scoring system for GATE EY is displayed here: 

  • Question Type: MCQ
  • Negative marking: ⅓ marks deduction for each wrong answer of 1 mark questions.
  • ⅔ marks deduction for each wrong answer of 2 marks questions
  •  Marks for correct answer: 1 or 2 marks

  • No negative Marking
  •  Marks for correct answer: 1 or 2 marks
