General Aptitude (GA) Syllabus
The General Aptitude section is common for all the papers of the GATE 2023 examination. The syllabus is available on the official website. The General Aptitude section consists of 15 out of 100 marks on paper for each subject. GATE General Aptitude (GA) syllabus is helpful for the candidates to prepare more effectively for the GATE 2023 exam.

GATE 2024 Exam Pattern

Exam Details
- Exam Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
- Number of Questions: 65
- Total Marks: 100
- Question Types: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions, and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions
- Number of Sections: 3 sections, except for AR, CY, GG, EY, XL, PH, and MA papers:
- General Aptitude
- Engineering Mathematics (for XL papers, it is Chemistry)
- Subject-Specific Section
General Aptitude Section
- Compulsory section with 10 questions
- 5 questions carry 1 mark each, and the remaining 5 carry 2 marks each
- Total marks: 15
Marking Scheme
- MCQs: 1 mark for each correct answer, with a deduction of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer
- MCQs (2 marks): 2 marks for each correct answer, with a deduction of 2/3 mark for every incorrect response
- No negative marking for Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions
