Sikkim is the country’s least populous state, with a population of 60,7688 people. According to the 2011 Indian state census, Kerala is the most literate state in the country, with a literacy rate of 93.91 percent. With a literacy rate of 63.82 percent, Bihar is the least literate state. According to the sex ratio metric, Mahe district in Puducherry has the highest sex ratio in the country, with 1176 females for every 1000 males. Haryana’s Jhajjar district has the lowest sex ratio: 774 girls for every 1000 males.

Some noteworthy statistics emerge from the 2011 census on cities. In terms of population, Mumbai, Maharashtra, is the most populated city in the country, with a population of 1.25 crores. Nagda, Uttar Pradesh, has the smallest population in the country: 100,036 people. With a literacy rate of 98.80 percent, Aizwal (Mizoram) is the Indian city with the highest literacy rate. On the other hand, Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, has the lowest literacy rate in India, with a literacy rate of 60.74 percent. Kozhikode (Kerala) has the greatest sex ratio, with 1093 girls for every 1000 males, according to the Indian Census 2011. However, Vapi, Gujarat, has the lowest sex ratio, with 734 women for every 1000 males.

What is Population Explosion?

The term “population explosion” refers to the increase in the number of people living in a certain region. It is a significant concern for underdeveloped countries. Unemployment- As the population grows, so does the need for jobs and employment. However, millions of people in India are unemployed owing to a lack of resources and employment prospects.

Furthermore, the level of unemployment is rising on a daily basis. To address this issue, the majority of individuals are travelling to other nations in search of better career prospects.

Poverty- Due to the country’s enormous population, there are a great number of individuals who live below the poverty line and are unaware of the country’s overpopulation. They are also a big factor to the high birth rate.

How to Prevent population Explosion?

There are several strategies we might use to avoid a population boom. The government can take steps to educate the public about the many strategies available for population control. It should also launch a major campaign for family planning and birth control.

Population Density

Population density is a measure of how many people live in a given region. It is a fair figure. The population density is obtained by dividing the population by the area. The number of persons per square kilometre is commonly used to represent population density.
