Let us start with the meaning of Software. The term “Software” was first coined in the late 1950s, by Statistician John Tukey. Initially, this software was not available commercially. 

The set of Instructions and Data that are used to operate electronics devices and help in the execution of certain tasks is known as Software. It is a generic term used for referring to different applications and scripts. In the narrowest sense, Software is the opposite of Hardware. Hardware deals with the physical characteristics of a Device. However, in this era, the Software is purchased, downloaded, and set up through the Internet. 

The different types of Software include Application Software, Middleware, Programming Software, System Software, and Driver Software. This Software help in setting directions and scripts for the device that needs to work. It meets people’s needs and aspirations.
