Projector

A projector is an output device fuelled by light. It aptly reproduces pictures created by a computer device and helps present images on the projection screen.

Table of Content
  •

A projector is an output device that presents images onto a projection screen and can be connected to a computer, and can replace a monitor or television to project images to a big group of people. Projectors come in various forms and sizes and are used in auditoriums and movie theatres. Some projectors can support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Most projectors are built to accept several input sources, such as VGA connections for older devices and HDMI connectors for modern equipment. Projectors help significantly in increasing the visibility of content.

Invention of Projector

On May 11, 1965, a person called David Hansen patented the first carousel slide projector. Gene Dolgoff invented the digital projector that we know today in 1984, albeit he had the idea in 1968. These projectors are used to present images on the projection screens.

Types of projector

  • Cathode Ray Tube

A CRT projector, which stands for Cathode Ray Tube projector, is a video projector that employs a cathode ray tube (which is compact and brilliant) as the picture-producing element. A lens is held in front of the CRT face, focusing and enlarging the picture onto a screen. Colour CRT projectors initially appeared on the market in the early 1950s. Instead of a single-colour CRT, most current CRT projectors use three colours – red, blue, and green. Combining these three colours helps form images on the screen in exact dimensions and proportions.

  • Liquid Crystal Display

A liquid crystal display (LCD) projector is connected to a computer, commonly used in business seminars, presentations, and meetings. They use liquid crystals to show pictures, data, or video and are powered by transmissive technology. LCD projectors provide excellent colour reproduction and are less expensive to manufacture, making them more popular than many alternatives. These display panels are found in a wide range of devices, including mobile phones, portable video games, laptop computers, and televisions. LCD technology has a significantly thinner display than CRT technology. Advanced technologies help in better picturisation.

  • Digital Light Processing

DLP projectors, one-chip or three-chip, are used for front and rear projection units. One-chip DLP projectors can create over 16 million colours, but three-chip versions can produce over 35 trillion colours, allowing the projector to make more lifelike and natural pictures. It is employed in front projectors in companies and classrooms and rear projection in televisions.

Advantages of projector

Customisable Screen Size

Projectors are more advantageous since they may be used on any surface, but televisions must be fixed in one location. You may alter the size of your projector screen to suit your needs, whether huge or tiny. Furthermore, regardless of projector size, its displays are not fixed. Moreover, it is a superior option for a large-screen television, such as a 60-inch plasma TV. They may be used with part of the room lights turned on, and they provide a visually appealing and brilliant image. A projector is put up in a dedicated home theatre on the right side to give a better view. When adequately darkened, the space has all dark surfaces and no ambient light pollution.

Huge Images

In the case of television, there is a defined size maximum, whereas an outside boundary does not constrain projectors. Another advantage of projectors over other home entertainment options is that they are not limited in size. Any size image can be onto a projection screen. Compared to TV rivals, the size of projector displays at their base level is considerable. Unlike flat-screen or rear-projection televisions, projectors can produce magnificent images with diagonal sizes ranging from 90′′ to 120′′.

Portability

Home entertainment projectors are not only compact but also lightweight, weighing between 2 and 20 lbs. As a result, if the ordinary projector owner has to transport it elsewhere, they will have no trouble doing so. Consider a large-screen television with a 45-inch screen and roughly 30 lbs. It is not easy to handle and transport elsewhere. In this case, the projector is more superior and advantageous than these types of televisions.

Conclusion

A projector is an output device that can be connected to a computer. It projects images from a Blu-ray player or computer and presents ideas on the projection screen. Projectors come in various forms and sizes and are used in auditoriums and movie theatres. DLP projectors can produce magnificent images with diagonal sizes ranging from 90′′ to 120′′. You may alter the size of your projector screen to suit your needs, whether huge or tiny. Projectors are compact in size and lightweight, weighing between 2 and 20 lbs.

Ans. Using a VGA or HDMI connection, most PCs can be connected to a projector in a few simple steps. When you connect your Windows computer to a projector, you may present images onto a projection screen, a hanging net, or anywhere your projector aims.

Ans. Press “P” while holding down the Windows button on the keyboard. Your display options will be displayed. While pressing the Windows button, click “P” to highlight each choice. To project the picture displayed on your laptop monitor, choose “Duplicate.”

Ans. A 100-inch TV elevates any viewing experience. The better projectors also had far higher contrast ratios and, as a result, higher image quality than most TVs at the time. Both can be used simultaneously for their respective purposes and the superiority can be decided easily based on the version available.

Ans. Surfaces should be primarily or entirely black or near to it. There should be no off-white walls, and the ceiling should be medium to dark (and floors). A completely dark room is the best choice for using a projector.
