Networking is one of the most important aspects of the information technology era. It can be the deciding factor in whether you get the job or not. The same is true for bank exams. networking in bank exams can help you make connections with other professionals, learn about upcoming opportunities, and more! In this article, we will discuss how to make the most of networking during your next bank exam!

What Is A Computer Network?

A computer network is a setup of multiple computers that are connected electronically to share resources and information. You can consider it as a system where various devices such as laptops, smartphones, tablets etc., can interact with each other using the internet or any physical medium. The major components of this system include:

  • Computer Networking Devices: These devices include routers, hubs, switches and gateways.
  • Network Media: This includes the medium through which data is transmitted from one device to another such as twisted pair cables, coaxial cables etc.,
  • Network Software or Network Interface Card (NIC): These are required for establishing communication between various devices in a network. In other words, these determine the logical and physical addressing of various devices.

Any computer network can be classified into two basic types namely:

  • LAN (Local Area Network): This is a group of computers near each other where all these computers are connected employing coaxial cables, twisted pair cables or any wireless medium. Any local area network is limited to a small geographic area such as home, office etc.,
  • WAN (Wide Area Network): This type of network covers much larger distances. WANs are generally connected using leased lines and satellite links or any other medium that is capable of covering large geographical areas.

Advantages Of Networking

Networking is one of the most important aspects of any exam. It can help you get access to valuable information and resources that can help you score better marks. Here are some advantages of networking:

  • You get access to a wealth of information and resources.
  • You build strong relationships with people who can help you in your career.
  • You can share your knowledge with others who may benefit from it as well.
  • Networking helps you build up a good reputation in the industry.
  • Networking is one of the best ways to promote yourself and your company.

What Are Networking Basics?

Networking is the act of meeting and communicating with people who share your interests. There are many different ways to network but here we’ll focus on two main ones – emailing friends/family members or attending networking events like job fairs. We’ll go over the basics of each and how to make the most out of them.

Emailing Friends/Family Members

The easiest way to start networking is by emailing your friends and family members who work in or have connections with banks. They may be able to give you some tips on what to expect in the exam, recommend which courses to take, or introduce you to people who can help you get your foot in the door.

When emailing your contacts, be sure to personalise each message and make it clear why you’re reaching out. For example, if you’re looking for advice on how to prepare for the exam, let them know what areas you’re struggling with and ask for their advice. You may also want to attach your resume or a cover letter to give them an idea of your skills and experience.

Attending Networking Events

Networking events are another great way to meet people who work in banks or related industries. They’re often hosted by organisations like the Chamber of Commerce, professional associations, or career centres.

At these events, you’ll have the opportunity to meet bankers, HR professionals, and other people who can help you get your foot in the door. You can also learn about different companies and their hiring processes.

When attending networking events, be sure to dress professionally and bring plenty of business cards. You should also be prepared to talk about your skills and experience, as well as why you’re interested in working for a particular company.

Benefits of Networking

Benefits of networking include:

  • Improved communication and collaboration among employees: Employees can communicate with each other easily, exchange ideas and get their work done more efficiently.
  • Improved storage and backup of data: Data is stored on the central server rather than individual computers which makes it easy to access as well as back up them. This also helps in sharing information between various departments or employees within an organisation.
  • Reduced costs: Networking leads to reduced costs as only one software licence is required for all the devices.
  • Provides internet access: Every computer within a network can be connected using a single Internet connection that reduces costs and increases efficiency.
  • Increased security of data: Data stored on central servers are more secure from viruses or malware attacks than computers without networking set up.

Types of Networking

There are three types of networking namely:

  • Peer-to-peer (PTP): In a peer-to-peer network, all the devices act as both servers and clients. This is generally used for small networks such as home or office networks where files can be easily shared between various devices.
  • Client-server (C/S): In this type of networking, one computer acts as a server and all the others act as clients. The server is responsible for providing services, storing data or processing requests from all other devices in a network. The client does not have any control over shared files or folders on the system but it has access to them.
  • Hybrid: This type of networking is a combination of PTP and CS networks as it provides both server-based and peer-to-peer file-sharing services. Hybrid networks are generally used in small organisations where every computer can share files with other devices without the need for a dedicated server.

Questions In A Networking Interview

  • How do you connect with people?
  • What are your best networking tips?
  • Do you have any favourite networking tools or resources?

Networking is an essential part of success in any field, and bank exams are no exception. The best way to maximise your chances of success is to make the most of all opportunities to network.

Conclusion

Networking is an important part of the banking exams process. It can help you connect with people who can provide guidance and support, as well as open up opportunities for you down the road. When done correctly, networking can be a valuable tool that helps you achieve your goals. However, it’s important to remember that networking is a two-way street – don’t just focus on what others can do for you, but also think about how you can help them. If you put in the effort and make connections with the right people, networking can be a key factor in helping you reach your goals. How have networking activities helped or hindered your journey so far?
