UPSC – Academics and Learner Experience

1. Plus Classes 

Objective 

– Plus classes allow learners to gain comprehensive knowledge across all the subjects for UPSC CSE. 

– They have the freedom of following as many batches and courses as they like in all the 3 languages provided

We launch new batches every week to give learners the freedom to start their syllabus from scratch. On the flip side, learners can also enroll in already running batches if it suits them 

Do’s for Plus Classes 

Session Names should be self explanatory in all the sessions of all courses – This helps improve learner navigate better through all courses and hence improve learner experience. We have introduced a new feature wherein the educators can now change the session sub-concept without any hassle, just after the session is over. Use of Roman numerals should be avoided at all times

Completing the course on time – This helps learners to stay on track and complete their syllabus on time and hence again contributing positively to the learner experience. Although there might be instances where educators have to stretch the course, staying within the suggested time helps learners to stay on track. After analyzing multiple course over time, we have observed that below are the suggested number of hours to complete the courses:

Classes should be spread across the month, and not congested within first or last part of the month so as to give learners ample time to grasp all the concepts 

Personal biases should be avoided by educators in the class as there might be learners whose sentiments might be hurt, leading to negative learner experience

Rescheduling of classes should be avoided, as it affects learner schedules and their preparation. Although there might be unavoidable circumstances, due to which educators might not be available for a particular class, and hence 3 reschedules are given to all educators. Anything above 3 would result in penalties being levied. Below is the monthly penalty structure for your reference:

Educators should ideally take 4 doubts via Raise-a-Hand. In case, there are too many doubts from learners and educators are running short of time, they should redirect learners to the Live Doubt Solving Sessions. Educators can also encourage learners to fill this form with their doubts and dedicated doubt solving educators will resolve their doubts within 24-38 hours 

Educators should always be on time for their classes and should take the class in an Unacademy T-shirt 

2. Special Classes 

Objective 

– Special Classes are free classes that are aimed at increasing New Learners on our platform, while also giving learners a taste of our vast content which they can access by becoming a subscriber. 

– Learners also get to know the pedagogy of all the educators across the 3 languages and make an informed decision on who to follow for their preparation

All top educators launch special classes to give learners sneak peek into the type of classes and content they provide on the plus platform

Do’s for Special Classes

Special Class Titles and Descriptions should be self explanatory – This helps learners easily search for a particular topic they might want to see, and hence would allow educators to garner more learners in their special classes 

Special Classes should be launched well in advance – 80% of educator’s special classes should be launched well in advance, preferably at the beginning of every month. This helps new learners make a schedule around their favorite educator’s classes. Educators should plan their special class schedule for the next month, by the 28th of this month. 

100% Contractual special hours should be completed – Since special classes are a channel to bring in more new learners, educators should always aim to finish all of their special hours, spread across the month 

In case, there are too many doubts forms learners and educators are running short of time, they should redirect learners to the Live Doubt Solving Sessions – “Doubt Darbaar”. Educators can also encourage learners to fill this form with their doubts and dedicated doubt solving educators will resolve their doubts within 24-38 hours

Educators should avoid stretching topics over multiple special classes, and topics should be following past years’ UPSC trends, thereby helping learners in a very focused manner 

Eg: If questions on “Revolt of 1857” have been appearing in UPSC Prelims/Mains consistently for past 7 years, educators should not more time on that topic rather than 3 hours on other topics whose probability is less
