Fourth Edition of State Health Index
Niti Aayog has released the state-wise health index in December 2021 for the year 2020. This analysis is completely based on monitoring how the states are improving their health condition and how they are maintaining a healthy environment. This report was named “Healthy States, Progressive India,” fourth edition on measuring the overall quality performance and increase in the improvement of health state-wise and union territory wise. Herewith no doubt Kerala state is No 1 in health in India thanks to their culture and organic environment and its maintenance. With that Tamil Nadu also came on top of the table.
What was this 4th edition of the Niti Aayog health Index state health index all about?
It was to ensure that similar entities are getting graded or ranked which will be categorized as “larger states”, “Union Territories” and “Smaller States”. This indexing data was the complete presentation of how the quality of life people are living in the big named states. There was an increase in many states and like Kerala state is No 1 in health in India there were many other states which were in the race too.
The Niti Aayog health Index was also clear data on how people are giving priority to their health. This is why you will see the most organic living states are having better grades and most industrial based states are having the worst rating in terms of ranking.
- In the data if you look at the “larger states” according to their incremental performance annually the ranking was simply Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Telangana were on top of the table. Due to new appointed policies and initiatives, these states had a big impact on the health index
- For the “smaller states” ranking the Mizoram and Meghalaya states came out to be having the most number of points in terms of incremental progression annually
- From the union territories, Delhi and Jammu-Kashmir have also shown their best result in terms of incremental performance
- If you look at the overall ranking of NITI Aayog health index 2020 State wise then Kerala state is No 1 in health in India. With Kerala, Tamil Nadu was also the state among the Larger entities that were on top of the table
- Of the Smaller states, Tripura and Mizoram were on the top of the table for overall indexing
- Nagar Haveli and Dadra, Daman and Diu, Chandigarh were on the top of the table from the Union Territories’ overall result
To make this report high level of authorities were involved i.e. Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Dr Rajiv Humar, Amitabh Kant CEO, Dr Rakesh Sarwal Additional Secretary and Senior Health Specialist of World Bank Sheena Chhabra. All the authorities related to the Ministry of health and family welfare(MoHFW) were involved in it.
What was exactly the plan of the authority behind this index?
The clear plan According to Vice Chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar was not just to analyze the current state situation but also how the state’s health improvement measures are taking place. This is why the result of the Niti Aayog health Index came out to be clear data and a clear picture of what the state is going through and this will be a big help to identify the problem as well.
But right now Kerala state is No 1 in health in India, this is a pure presentation of consistency. Now the eyes will be on the next session on how states will improve especially the capital of India, Delhi is going to improve so far they have shown great improvement.
Conclusion
Kerala state holding first position in health index of India. There was always the expectation from the Kerala state because of their culture and how organically they live and how much they take care of health already from the past. But this result also has shown that one state is consistent but what actually other state authorities are actually doing. Now there will be a complete impact on the state’s increment performance.
