The motive of the Government to Implement NRC
Let us discuss NRC in brief; the Indian government has implemented NRC to find the real identity of an unknown person; there were many cases in India where the terrorist came with an Indian identity, but with the help of NRC, The real identity of terrorists were identified much time. Everyone knows that the main motive of terrorists is to provide damage to Indian form and kill Indians. Firstly, the Assam state implemented the rule in 2013–2014. The border surrounds Assam, and many people enter India with mistaken identity, like they are a citizen of India. Still, their main motive is to harm properties and kill several Indians. Nagaland’s Notification for starting its own NRC came; in 2021, the Indian government announced Implementing the NRC rule in all other countries, but the rule is not implemented until now.
Nagaland’s notification for starting its own NRC
According to the Notification, the effort to prepare the Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN) will begin on July 10 and be finished in 60 days. According to the Notification, the effort is being carried out to prevent the granting of Indigenous Inhabitant Certificates (IIC) to ineligible people. According to the statement, the procedure will be carried out by a comprehensive survey of people in every village and ward across the state. It will be based on current government data. The survey will include whether an indigenous person is still living in his or her permanent abode or has relocated. Wherever possible, Aadhar numbers will be captured.
By September 11, the lists will be available in villages and wards and on each district’s website. It said that claims and objections would be accepted for 30 days. All district deputy commissioners have been told to organise teams to perform the exercise and notify villages and tribal councils. Official records and evidence will be used to decide claims and objections. On or before December 10, each indigenous dweller will be granted a unique ID, and a final list will be compiled.
What is the status of NRC in India?
In the 2019 election manifesto, the BJP announced and promised to implement the NRC. At the same time, the home minister Amit Shah, who also belongs to the BJP party, announced to the Indian parliament that the NRC would be implemented throughout the country; the announcement date was November 19, 2019.
The Citizenship Rules of 2003 allow the central government to make an order to prepare the National Population Register (NPR) and create the NRC based on the information contained in it. According to the 2003 amendment, local officials would next decide whether the person’s name should be added to the NRC, determining their citizenship status. This practice may be carried out across India without the requirement for any new rules or laws.
