Lucknow Declaration

The “Background of the Lucknow Declaration” is that it suggests collaborating with non-violence, peace, security and prevention of conflict resolution in the respective countries.

Peace and security within a country are vital and in order to maintain the peace and decorum of each country, India along with 50 other African countries agreed on signing a contract to maintain peace and prosperity in the respective countries. Peace building, resolution and management are the “Background of the Lucknow Declaration”. This declaration of Lucknow was announced by the 50 African countries and India on 6th February. This agreement took place in the estates of Lucknow in India. The “Major Highlights of the Declaration” is that it incorporates various factors that are security-oriented to countries controlling and management of every kind of attracting from fellow enemy countries.

The impetus of the Lucknow declaration was the regulation of peace and safety in the countries. The “Background of the Lucknow Declaration” is two emphases on maritime security, where it concentrates on maximizing the level of security in two regions of the countries. The purpose of increasing the security in maritime safety as it is the basic need or demand of the “development of Blue and Ocean economy”. The decision regarding an increase in security levels in the two countries on the water or sea areas was agreed to focus on more as it is learnt from the past that water bodies serve as a crucial entrance for the enemies or terrorists in the country. 

The management of the safety level in the country affected and encouraged the bondage between the two countries in a positive manner. It further allowed the growth of relations in the Indo-pacific region of the two countries. Another crucial “Major Highlights of the Declaration” of Lucknow declaration pivots on defence cooperation. In these sections of the functioning of the two countries security and safety drew a major line to bring prosperity to the countries. These included joint ventures in managing the defence technology and software, investment, and digital defence.

There are various parts of the Lucknow declaration that deserve a special highlight in the context of the agreement between India and Africa. These “Major Highlights of the Declaration” of the contract can be stated as:

  • Defence cooperation 

The purpose of the Lucknow Declaration was to focus on and stress on the need for security and peace in a country in the African and Indian regions. In this regard of the declaration both the countries agreed on connecting or collaborating to some specific regions like resolution, management, and peace creation and conflict prevention. The creation of this peace and security in the countries could be attained through the exchange of training and expertise. The other perspective of peace building was to strengthen continental and regional early warning mechanisms and capacities. 

Enhancement of the role of women in propagandizing and peace keeping along with cultural peace among the two countries has been emphasised. The “African Union’s International Centre for Conflict Resolution” in the context of peacemaking was maintained in the two countries and has contributed in an immense way specifically in Cairo. These have made a huge contribution to the two countries. Terrorism is one of the major threats to a country’s peace and prosperity and the focus of the Lucknow declaration eradicated the emergence and attack of terrorism in these two countries. 

Impact of the Declaration

The most important Impact of the Declaration that can be noticed is the strong bond that stimulates the relationship between Africa and India. It will further assist in both regions of the two countries. The impacts also include the major challenges a country could face and deal with effectively through these declarations of the contract are extreme and terrorism, human trafficking, privacy. 

In addition, there is also the inclusion of the weapon struggle and drug smuggling in the declaration.

Africa and India are both two progressive countries that are in the surge of development and growth. The motive or “Background of the Lucknow Declaration” is to maintain and monitor the factor that can allow the peace management and a country’s security from terrorism, maritime security, “Indo-Pacific Region”. The greatest impact this Lucknow declaration had on the relationship between the two countries regarding the defence operation. The declaration includes several policies and an agenda for the countries that further aided India and 50 other African countries to have a better defence mechanism.
