Make Note on Rest and Motion Definitions

A state of position that changes its occurrence from fixed to non-fixed based on its surroundings can be defined as the rest and motion in physics.

In this assignment, different states of physics that are reliable on distance and travel are going to be discussed. Based on the consequences of the time, the position of an object can change the movement from fixed to motion or vice versa. According to physics, different objects have fixed states related to the motion of rest. Different types of motion will be examined and the definition of velocity is going to be stated in this assignment.

Meaning Rest and Motion

An object that is situated in its place and not making movement is defined as rest in physics. Sometimes objects are not allowed to change their position based on their state of living elements and environment. For instance, a tree, building, or any non-living object is fixed on its position as rest until it is getting moved by some. Motion in physics is defined as a state when an object is moving due to its surroundings and time. Humans can move from one place to another place, vehicles can be controlled by humans while driving can be defined as the motion state in physics.

Velocity

Velocity can be defined based on the objects such as direction and magnitude and it’s a vector that is depending on both objects. The formula of velocity is displacement/time. Additionally, velocity can be defined as the rate of motion that can be categorised as followings:

  • Uniform velocity: Magnitude and direction stay identical with consideration to time.
  • Non-Uniform velocity: When the body protects displacements that have inequality in an equivalent break of duration in a certain order or if the direction shifts are known as the non-uniform velocity.

Types of Motion

Based on the nature of the movement of objects via the path that can rely on straight or curved lines, motion can be classified easily as the following:

Linear motion depends on the line that is followed by an object when it’s moving.

Rotatory motion is also a type of motion when a particle moves from its place depending on the object that is rotating based on its own axis.

Oscillatory is also another type of motion that is even referred to as the dependency on the mean position. Particles that are moved due to some push and later come back to the previous position can be defined as Oscillatory motion.

Example of Rest

Rest is referred to as the position when a particle rests on its fixed position and does not move even if its surrounding is moving. Different examples of rests are: a tree remains forever in the rest position until it is being moved by someone. A human who is sleeping can be defined as an example of rest. Also, a building can be referred to as the best example of rest that can not be lifted or shifted even manually.

Example of Motion

Different examples of motions occurred in our surroundings based on the rate of movement. The examples of motion are applicable to both humans and particles. Hence, the development of motion can make more sense for humans as they can move by themselves whereas objects get moved by human activities. A human moving from one to another place by walking and running are the best examples of motion. Vehicles and other objects controlled by humans can be referred to as the example of motion also although it does not rely on them.

Difference between Rest and Motion

Situations relying on different manners are examples of different states of physics that rely upon the movement. The distinction between these two states is dependent on the moving situation of the moving objects. The difference is based on the time and position where an object is examined in its situation. Based on physics, different elements can alter their structure and movement can be occurred by their placement. Time is relying on the position changes, and an object can be moved from a fixed position later depending on velocity.

Conclusion

Conclusively, based on the position and movement a particle can make changes in its occurrence and the position can be converted from fixed to moveable. The state of position has two separate stages and the moving elements can be referred to as the motion. The particles that are fixed at someplace can be referred to as the position of rest. Altering the displacement of an object with the reference to time is defined as velocity. Only humans rely on themselves for motion and rest position.
