Table of Content
  •

Resource

  • Resources are a wide range of items that make our lives easier and better
  • The term refers to a wide range of utilities, objects, animals, and other items that help us make our lives easier
  • In fact, some resources are required for our way of life. Every day, we use a variety of resources to make our lives easier
  • The worth of a resource is determined by its availability, use, and significance in our lives.

Characteristics of Resources

  • Utility: Usefulness is one of the most important characteristics of all the resources, all resources are useful. Its use or utility gives it worth. All resources have some value, and this value may be economic or may not. Some resources become economically valuable over time
  • Limitedness: Resources are limited for consumption. They are limited in supply; hence, they have to be used judiciously
  • Resources are interrelated- All resources are interrelated in nature. The utility of one resource depends on the use of the other resources
  • Proper management: All resources need to be managed efficiently. The utilization of resources should be done efficiently and in a planned way to ensure their longevity.

 Types of Resources

Resources are classified into Natural, Human-made and Human resources.

Natural Resources

  • These resources are drawn from nature and are used without much modification. These resources are classified into two types
  • Renewable resources are those which get restored or renewed rapidly through natural processes. Imprudent utilization of specific sustainable assets like water, soil and timber can influence their stock
  •  Non-renewable resources are those, which have restricted stock. Coal, oil and flammable gas are a few examples.

Human-made Resources

  •  Human-made resources are created when humans use natural resources to create something new that adds utility and value to our lives
  • For example, when we use metals, wood, cement, sand, and solar energy to construct buildings, machinery, vehicles, bridges, and roads, we create man-made resources
  • Similarly, technology is a man-made resource. The majority of man-made resources are renewable. A building can be rebuilt, and a broken machine can be repaired
  •  Individuals utilize natural assets to make structures, spans, streets, apparatus, and vehicles, which are known as human-made assets. Innovation is likewise a human-made asset
  • People can utilize nature to make more assets when they have the information, ability and innovation to do as such
  • That is the reason, individuals are called human resources. Instruction and wellbeing help in making individuals a significant asset, thereby improving the usage of all other resources.

Conserving Resources

Utilizing assets cautiously and giving them an opportunity to get restored is called asset protection. There are different ways of monitoring assets like decreasing utilization, reusing the once used assets and recycling things.

Adjusting the need to utilize assets and furthermore saving them for future is called a maintainable turn of events.

Few of the standards of manageable advancements are:

  • Regard and care for all types of life
  • Improve the nature of human existence
  • Ration the Earth’s imperativeness and variety
  • Limit the exhaustion of normal assets
  • Change individual disposition and practices towards the climate
  • Empower people groups to really focus on their own current circumstances.

Conclusion

Resources that are naturally present in nature are playing a very important role in human needs, developmental processes, and technology enhancement. Resources are unevenly distributed across the globe like some countries have got very important resources like petroleum and natural gas while some countries have the minimal presence of these resources.

World majorly focuses on sustainable use of resources because this will help in improving the quality of human life, also minimize the natural resources to be depleted, aware people to use resources very carefully to protect the future for the next generation, keep the environment safe and protect and also take care of biodiversity and ecosystem.

Much use of coal and fossil fuels will lead to an increase in pollution also harmful to all life forms. We must shift to renewable resources by diverting from fossil fuels because sustainable and renewable resources and also the diversity of life on the earth get conserved.
