For finding out whether a function is even or odd, we put -x in place of x. 

If f(-x) = f(x), then the function is said to be an even function.

If f(-x) = -f(x), then the function is said to be an odd function.

Ans. It can be observed that sin (-x) = -sin x. Therefore, sin x is an odd function.

It can be observed that cos (-x) = cos x. Therefore, cos x is an even function.
