Asia Pacific Group Supports India

In the year 2019 India UNSC’s nonpermanent membership was supported by the AsiaPacific Group; so in this article, you will get a quick detail about it.

AsiaPacific Group Supports India’s UNSC Non Permanent Membership

India is now part of the non permanent members of UNSC ( United Nations Security Council). In the year 2019, this decision was taken and India got undisputed support. Most of the countries have supported India from the AsiaPacific Group’s 55 member panel. Now India’s seat is secure for 2022. Pakistan is in need of development and they face many diplomatic challenges from the Indian country at the UN. There were many who were against India’s non-membership agreement but there were more who were convinced of India’s work for the UN.

Better Understanding why India got the support of AsiaPacific Group

For many decades India has been a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. And to achieve this achievement India always used its nonpermanent membership to reach this milestone/achievement. For the past seven years, India has held this same position with 7 times the count. The non permanent members of UNSC included India like 7 years before and the Indian capital i.e. Delhi is working with the G-4 Group and also Germany, Japan and Brazil are there to support as well inside UNSC.

For the past many years the UNSC reform has been considered a necessity. And the experts are always saying if there are no reforms there will be the chances of a highly inefficient and unequal security council. Right now the 5 permanent member countries are China, Russia, the United States, France and Britain. The Role of the United Nations Security Council is simply to provide equal and efficient security to all the countries.

The 5 countries have the privilege to take the decision on the non permanent members of UNSC for a particular country. Right now these 5 countries are having the most power in the UNSC. On the other hand, non-permanent member countries have just a rubber-stamping role to play.

What benefit does India get?

From this The nonpermanent members of UNSC, India have got benefits on the two-year term which will help in the association’s reforms. And also the Role of the United Nations Security Council plays here is India will get a secured position as one of the major powers that will be completely in support of other permanent members.

Pakistan has always opposed this decision to give the nonpermanent members of UNSC to India. And they asked many questions from UNSC Members, What is the exact reason to support India for a long time. There were many controversies about how India is part of the nonpermanent membership. Basically, the reason was a competition between the regional blocks and individual stakeholders for their interests and positions.

Pakistan always says if India becomes permanent then they will get the same position as the other 5 countries. But they also know the fact that if India got the power of Permanent Membership that will make a huge difference in the UNSC Members council. And if India became a member of the UNSC then they can’t argue over the matter of Jammu and Kashmir and they will not be able to win the issue dispute.

Things to be noted

Right now India is part of the non permanent members of UNSC which is an advantage to Pakistan as well and if India is having the power of the UNSC then their nuclear programs internationally will not get recognition. Also if India is UNSC’s permanent member then it will be a disaster for them as India can ask Pakistan to give their nuclear weapons and also can ask them not to produce any more nuclear programs.

Conclusion

Since India is made with the unity of many states there is a sign showing that the power they have is from all over the place. And if India is having the non permanent membership of UNSC and not the permanent membership, this will be a great advantage to the neighbouring countries like Pakistan and China. Because once the Indian country got the UNSC membership they will have the power to raise more arguable questions which are not letting India work on an international basis.
