The Union Government has launched Bharatiya Poshan Krishi Kosh to curtail malnutrition in India. The Kosh was inaugurated by Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani along with Bill Gates on November 18, 2019, in New Delhi.

Union Ministry And Its Concern

The union ministry’s main objective, which has launched Bharatiya Poshan Krishi Kosh, is to promote and reinforce healthy dietary practices at the basic individual and community level and sustainably tackle malnutrition. On occasion, the father of the Green Revolution and eminent agricultural scientist, Dr M.S Swaminathan, impactfully brought about a five-point action program to make India a nation secure in nutrition where historical crops have been developed. He also put forward the perspective that lack of proper nutrition among children affects their physical development and brain development and affects their grey matter. The five-point litigation program

  1. Assure a calorie-rich diet for women, especially pregnant women and children.
  2. Guarantee protein infusion in the form of pulses to annihilate protein hunger among women and youngsters.
  3. Obliterate hidden starvation due to micro-nutrient shortcomings, such as vitamin A, vitamin B, Iron, and Zinc.
  4. Secure an allowance of clean drinking water.
  5. Dissipating nourishment literacy in every village, especially among women with youths less than 100 days old.

He demanded that India’s National Nutrition Mission give rise to new fuel desired to abolish Malnutrition. Due to the Bharatiya Poshan Krishi Kosh project, the Union Ministry of women and child development has partnered with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Bill Gates declared that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is willing to partner with the Union Government to create a sustainable nutrition program to tackle the challenge of malnutrition.
