In the Northern part of the Indian Ocean, the third naval drill was held jointly by Russia, China and Iran. This took place amid the belief that Russia, China and Iran are training together to face the United States. Two Chinese vessels and three Russian ships joined Iranian Vessels 11 in number. Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) also participated in the Naval exercise. IRGC took part in small helicopters and ships. The main purpose behind this Naval Exercise between China Russia and Iran was to focus on counter-piracy, night-time maritime and anti-air skills. It is pretty obvious that there is a way bigger purpose for the governments of China, Russia and Iran.
Russian Naval Exercise
The Russian Government announced the postponement of all the Russian Naval Exercises. The Russian Naval Exercises will take place next week in the international waters of the Irish Sea. The exercise was supposed to take place 150 miles or 240 km away from the southwestern part of Ireland. As mentioned, the exercise would have taken part in international waters but that part comes under the exclusive economic zone of Ireland. The relocation took place because of the objection from the foreign minister of Ireland Simon Coveney as he objected to the game of wars.
Russia China and Iran are Training together
Russia, China and Iran trained together and kept a joint naval drill in the Northern part of the Indian Ocean also. The Naval drills will include a lot of tactical exercises such as releasing the hijacked vessel, shooting at targets in the air at night, and saving a burning vessel. The joint naval drills of Russia, China and Iran started in 2019 and took place in the Indian Ocean and the area of Oman Sea. This growing security cooperation reflects and supports the three governments’ stronger ties. Iran was granted full membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which is dominated by China and Russia, in September. Iran had previously been granted observer status. Last month, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Mousavi paid a visit to China to deepen the two nations’ “comprehensive strategic partnership” deal, which they signed last year. In recent months, Iran has conducted regular military drills as an effort to resurrect the nuclear deal of 2015 with world powers that have failed. Russia is also at odds with the United States and the Western part of the world over its neighbour Ukraine, over there it has dispatched over a million troops that Washington, Kyiv, and their allies fear will be used to attack the country.
Naval Drills in the Indian Ocean
Iran, China, and Russia conducted their third joint naval exercise in the northern part of the Indian Ocean. Iran’s armed forces and Islamic Revolutionary Guards also participated in the “2022 Marine Security Belt” exercise, which spans 17,000 square kilometres (6,560 square miles), according to the drills’ spokesman, Rear Admiral Mostafa Tajoldini. President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi has followed the “look east” policy to strengthen the relations with Russia and China since taking office last June. In September, Shanghai Cooperation Organization was joined by Tehran, a central Asian security organisation led by Beijing and Moscow.
Conclusion
We get to know about how Russia, China and Iran started their Naval exercises back in 2019 and it was eventually done in both the sea of Oman and the Northern part of the Indian Ocean and then it was also going to held in Ireland but it was later postponed to the area which is outside Ireland’s Exclusive Economic Zone. The main purpose behind the exercise between Russia, China and Iran was to become stronger and focus on counter-piracy, night-time maritime and anti-air skills, but for obvious reasons, it also serves a bigger purpose.
