Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC)
The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram is ISRO’s main design and development centre for launch vehicle technology. Aeronautics, avionics, materials, mechanics, vehicle integration, chemicals, propulsion, space ordnance, structures, space physics, and system reliability are all areas where the Centre is active in research and development. The Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) is the ISRO’s design, development, and manufacturing centre for liquid propulsion stages. This centre is also responsible for the development of fluid control valves, transducers, propellant management devices for vacuum situations, and other critical components of liquid propulsion systems.
Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR
The Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, India’s Spaceport, is in charge of providing Launch Base Infrastructure for the country’s space programme. This facility includes solid propellant processing, static testing of solid motors, launch vehicle integration and launch operations, range operations (telemetry, tracking, and command network), and a mission control centre. The Centre features two launch pads from which the PSLV and GSLV rockets are launched. The centre’s mission is to (i)manufacture solid propellant boosters for ISRO’s launch vehicle programmes, (ii) provide infrastructure for qualifying various subsystems and solid rocket motors and conducting necessary tests, and (iii) provide launch base infrastructure for satellites and launch vehicles.
