His adventurous life was filled to the brim with remarkable accomplishments in a variety of professions. He was a prominent player in Indian politics and a scholar who was held in high regard in the field of Urdu literature. He was also a poet.
In addition to this, he played a role in defining trends while working as a journalist. However, the thing that brought him the most notoriety was the fact that he was a thinker who had both a global and a humanitarian perspective. A persistent freedom warrior who has never wavered in his commitment to upholding democratic and secular norms. Maulana Azad is someone who should be brought to the attention of today’s younger generation of Indians once again.
Maulana Azad National Fellowship Scheme
A fellowship programme known as the Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students (MANF) is being run by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on behalf of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. MANF was established with the purpose of encouraging students from underrepresented communities to pursue higher education at levels such as M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes in the sciences, humanities, social sciences, and engineering and technology. These programmes are funded by integrated fellowships that are awarded for a period of five years. This fellowship programme will award a total of one thousand fellowships to deserving applicants during the course of its duration. The students who are awarded this scholarship will earn a stipend of up to 35,000 Indian Rupees (INR) per month, in addition to additional advantages.
The programme is open to all universities and institutions that have valid accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and are recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as follows:
Central and State Universities (including constituent and affiliated institutions) included under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
Institutions for higher learning that meet the requirements of Section 3 of the UGC Act and are deemed to be universities as a result of the Central Government’s notification, following consultation with the UGC and receipt of valid accreditation from the NAAC.
Institution that is wholly endowed by either the state or the federal government and is authorised to confer degrees.
Institutions that are considered to be of national importance according to the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The Malaysian Academic Network Foundation (MANF) provides funding to research students so that they can finish their Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees and become qualified for employment as lecturers in academic institutions and other organisations that require M.Phil./Ph.D. degrees as a prerequisite for employment. Additionally, thirty percent of the total number of fellowships are reserved for women candidates, while seventy percent of the fellowships are reserved for men candidates. Through a process known as Direct Benefit Transfer, the successful applicants will have the fellowship amount deposited straight into their bank accounts (DBT).
Five-year Fellowship
The goal of the Maulana Azad National Fellowship is to offer support in the form of fellowships for a period of five years to minority students who are pursuing a Ph.D. or higher class of the M.Phil. degree offered by the central government. This fellowship programme will be open to any and all educational establishments that fall under the purview of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act’s Section 2 (F) and Section 3 provisions. Students from underrepresented communities can benefit from the programme, which is run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs and administered by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Research students who are enrolled in M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes on a regular and full-time basis are eligible for the fellowship that is available under this Fellowship Scheme. Students who are awarded fellowships from the Ministry of Minority Affairs as part of this programme will be referred to as Scholars of the Ministry.
Financial Assistance To Students
Under this programme, necessary requirements of minority students who are enrolled in normal and full-time M. Phil. and PhD courses as well as similar research programmes at Indian schools, research institutes, and scientific institutions will be addressed. Research students who hold degrees such as an M.Phil or a PhD will be able to meet the requirements necessary to become eligible for lecturer positions at a variety of educational institutions as a result of this.
This fellowship programme will be administered by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which will serve as the scheme’s central coordinating body. The University Grants Commission will provide notification of the fellowship by publishing appropriate advertisements in various publications, including newspapers, online publications, and web pages.
