Like other European countries, Romania can connect its national flag’s origins to the land’s rulers. Several shields of armour linked with the rulers and monarchs who governed the regions in Romania are represented by the colours on the flag. Following the end of the communist regime, the flag 1948 was re-adopted in 1989 and has been flying in the nation since then.
In 1859, the unification of Moldavia and Wallachia became Romania. The association was not fully independent of the Ottoman Rule because it had considerable political independence to get its flag, which featured vertical lines rather than horizontal stripes with the same colours as the contemporary flag.
