ClearIAS Current Affairs Capsules (CCC) are ClearIAS ebooks (in PDF format) that cover Monthly MCQs compiled from government websites such as PIB, DDNEWS, NEWSONAIR, and others.

What are Current Affairs Capsules (CCCs) from ClearIAS?

ClearIAS publishes monthly CCCs, which are PDFs containing MCQs. This collection consists of current-affairs-related questions primarily taken from government sources such as PIB, NewsOnAir, and DDnews.

ClearIAS Current Affairs Capsules (CCC) cover practically all essential questions (MCQs) based on current events for each month. Aspirants can save a lot of time by utilising multiple resources.

Only 50 Multiple-Choice Questions Per Month — Each month, we hand-pick only roughly 50 questions, making it incredibly easy for applicants to master and revise. Over the course of a year (i.e. 12 months), you will receive around 600 MCQs for free. We have around three years of CCC on hand in the store for back-issue reference.

Quick Learning – Because we give Current Affairs in an MCQ format (with reference links), learning is more engaging and time-efficient.

Similar questions are likely to appear in the UPSC Prelims — Many questions from the CCCs, CMPPQs, and ClearIAS Prelims Test Series may appear in the UPSC Prelims – either directly or indirectly.

Though CCCs are meant for Prelims, the Learning Zone in the PDFs can be used for UPSC Mains and Interviews as well.

Toppers have downloaded it – Many UPSC top scorers use CCCs on a regular basis.

Green Crackers

Green crackers were developed by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), and they release 30% less pollution than traditional crackers. It’s a green answer to India’s air pollution concerns, as well as a step forward in the fight against climate change.

The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industries, has approved these crackers.

PESO is the federal agency in charge of overseeing the safety of explosives, compressed gases, and petroleum.

The company’s headquarters are in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

These crackers use less polluting raw materials, and their chemical formulation assures that particle emissions into the atmosphere are lowered by reducing dust.

As a dust suppressant and to dilute the gaseous emissions, these crackers discharge water vapour or air.

Green cracker characteristics

  • Green crackers release between 110 and 125 decibels of sound, whilst regular crackers emit around 160 decibels.
  • A green logo and Quick Response (QR) have been devised to distinguish green crackers from standard ones.
  • To make fireworks using the green cracker composition, manufacturers must first obtain a contract with the CSIR.

Global Report on Assistive Technology (GReAT)

For the first time, evidence on the global need for and access to assistive technology is presented in the Global Report on Assistive Technology, which includes a series of recommendations to increase availability and access, raise awareness of the need, and implement inclusion policies to improve the lives of millions of people.

The current report advocates for the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, as well as reaching the Sustainable Development Goals and universal health coverage (UHC) (SDGs).

The following are some of the report’s highlights:

According to the report,

  • Due to population ageing and the increased prevalence of non-communicable diseases around the world, the number of people in need of one or more assistive goods is expected to reach 3.5 billion by 2050.
  • The research also emphasises the significant access gap that exists between low- and high-income countries.
  • According to a study of 35 countries, access ranges from 3% in poorer countries to 90% in wealthier countries.
  • Accessibility is hampered by a lack of financial resources.
  • Large gaps in service provision and trained personnel for assistive technology were discovered in a survey of 70 nations mentioned in the report, particularly in the categories of cognition, communication, and self-care.
