Definition

Volleyball is a sport played in groups. A large net separates the teams. Each side of the net has six players. Each team has twelve substitute players. The game begins with each team’s captain deciding which side of the court they will play on by tossing a coin, which also determines who will serve (hit) the ball first. The goal of the game is to keep the ball in the air as long as possible. The ball can be played with any part of the body, with a team having a maximum of three strokes. If the ball hits the floor at any point, the team that the ball landed on scores a point.
