Exploring Republic Day Parade Awards 2022

As we all know, Republic day in India is celebrated on 26 January. India has various cultures, so republic day is celebrated to show unity among all states and UTs. Republic day is celebrated in various ways, but the parade is considered the most attractive republic day event. The parade, which occurs at Rajpath in Delhi, is the most important republic day parade. So here in this article, we will explore the republic day parade awards. About the Republic Day Parade Awards

Here republic day parade represents the parade in Delhi annually on 26 January. So basically, every state and union territory of the country participates in this parade interestingly. The performance of every state and union territory in the parade is observed keenly, and then awards are distributed according to the unbiased results. Every state hustles to win the Republic day parade awards. 

This parade starts marching from the Rashtrapati Bhawan to the Red Fort via India Gate. So basically, the Republic day parade takes place on Rajpath. While initially, the Republic day Parades were held in different places like Ramlila Ground, Kingsway camp, Irwin Stadium, and Red fort. This path was for four years after the Republic day parade started marching at Rajpath in 1955. Now Rajpath is known as the regular venue for the Republic day parade. The President of India unfurls the national flag to open the parade. The regiments like the Navy, Air force, and Army march along with their bands. The tableaux of different states are displayed to signify their culture. 26 January 1950 was the day when the republic day parade was held in India for the first time. The ministry of defence organises the republic day parade. 

Tableaux

Tableaux represent the culture, historical event, development programmes, heritage, and environment. The Ministry of Defence conducts the selection process for the tableaux. Any logos are not allowed in the tableaux, while some sound and animation should be involved in tableaux design. The states whose tableaux are selected for the republic day parade participate and hustle to win the best tableaux award. The Tableaux are a good way of expressing the uniqueness and speciality of a particular state. 

Republic Day Tableau 2022 Winner

M P Gupta, Director, Ministry of Defence, presented the “Best Marching Contingent Trophy” to Sheel Vardhan Singh, CISF, Contingent Commander Mohnish Bagree, Assistant Commandant, and Band Master Karan Singh, Sub-Inspector/Exe on 25.02.2022, at CISF HQrs, New Delhi, in the presence of other senior offices of the CISF, MoD, and MHA.

M P Gupta, Director of the Ministry of Defence, commended Shri Sheel Vardhan Singh, DG, CISF, on the CISF Contingent’s outstanding performance in the Republic Day Parade- 2022. The Director-General of the CISF also complimented the Contingent Commander and other CISF officers on their outstanding performance in bringing this great achievement to the organisation.

The CISF Contingent has received the Best Marching Contingent title for the sixth time. CISF Contingent was previously named Best Marching Contingent in 2007, 2008, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2020.

Republic Day Parade Awards

There are a few awards in this grand celebration of Republic day. Those awards are Best marching contingent, best 3 tableaux, best tableau among the ministries and department and popular choice awards. The various marching contingent and tableaux of various states present their events by working hard to win the awards. 

• 12 states participated in the Republic day parade 2022. Uttar Pradesh Tableaux won the best tableaux among these 12 participants. One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham was the theme of Tableaux of Uttar Pradesh. The state Karnataka won the second prize for the best tableau. The theme for the Karnataka tableau was the ‘cradle of traditional handicrafts’. At the same time, the state of Meghalaya won the third prize for the best tableau. The theme for the Meghalaya tableau was Meghalaya’s 50 years of Statehood and its tribute to women-led cooperative societies & SHGs. 
• The Indian Navy won the award for the best marching contingent among the three services. 
• Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) won the award for the best marching contingent among the CAPF/other auxiliary forces. 

Usually, a chief guest is invited to celebrate Republic day, but due to COVID-19, there was no chief guest in the year 2022. Even the chief guest invited for the 26 January 2021 could not attend the program because of COVID-19. His visit to India was cancelled.  

The chief guest for the Republic day parade 2019 was President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa. The chief guest for the year 2020 was President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil. Foreign leaders are invited to the Republic day parade to build good bilateral relations and show India’s diverse nature and the prosperity of Indian culture.
