Initial inquiries would typically centre on the applicant’s biographical information, career preferences, and why they are interested in joining the civil service.

The UPSC Interview Board initially engages a candidate by asking them to provide a brief introduction of themselves.

Some inquiries are made about the candidates’ names. Applicants may be questioned about the origins of their name and surname, including, if any applicant has a longer surname, the reasons behind it.

Applicants must also examine their dates of birth because it might question them. The vast majority of interview questions from the UPSC are heavily influenced by the candidate’s information on their application, such as their subjects, interests, and preferred services. As a result, rather than being a test of exhaustive subject knowledge, the Interview can be seen as a test of logic, presentation, and awareness.

Candidates should pay close attention to the details they provided on their complete application form, especially regarding their interests and the information they provided in their biodata, since it will pose questions about the motivations behind each.

Keeping up with current happenings is crucial for the Interview because questions may be founded on them, and the interviewer may seek to gauge the candidate’s opinion. As a result, candidates must be aware of current events and be able to respond rationally to interviewers’ inquiries.
