- Presenting India in its embassies, high commissions, consulates, and missions to multilateral bodies such as the United Nations;Â
- Protecting India’s interests in the country of their posting;Â
- Cultivating cordial relationships with the ability to receive state and its citizens, such as non-resident Indians (NRIs) and persons of Indian origin (PIOs); andÂ
- Providing information on changes in the nation of their posting that can influence India’s policy formulation.
- Accountable for all facets of international diplomacy under the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), such as government-to-government political and economic work, multilateral organisations, policy guarding, legal issues, regional organisations, diplomatic affairs, press, and publicity are trying to extend consular services to foreigners and Indian citizens abroadÂ
- Negotiating agreements on various issues with receiving state authorities
IFS Salary- Rank Wise
- Junior Time Scale – Such officials will be hired as ‘Under Secretaries,’ with salaries ranging from 8000 to 14000/-.
- Senior Time Scale – Such officials will be hired as ‘Under Secretaries,’ with salaries ranging from 10650 to 16000/-.
- Junior Administrative – Such officials will be hired as ‘Deputy Secretaries,’ with salaries ranging from $12,750 to $17,000/-.
- Selection Grade – Such officials will be hired as ‘Counselor Directors,’ with pay ranging from 15,100 to 18,500/-.
- The official at the Senior Administrative level will be hired as a ‘Joint Secretary,’ with a salary ranging from 18,400 to 22,500/-.
- Officials at the High Commissioner or Ambassador level will function as ‘Foreign Secretary,’ with no grade pay.
