Features:
- NITI Aayog works as a State-of-the art Resource Centre. It has the required resources, knowledge, and abilities to move quickly in research and innovation, offer the government a strategic policy vision, and cope with unforeseen difficulties.
- NITI Aayog does following four types of activities:
Ø Design Policy and Programme Framework.
Ø Foster Cooperative Federalism.
Ø Monitoring and Evaluation.
Ø The Knowledge and Innovation Hub (A combination of a think tank and a knowledge and innovation hub)
Composition:
The NITI Aayog is made up of the following members:
- India’s Prime Minister serves as Chairman.
- The Chief Ministers of all states and the Lieutenant Governors of UTs will make up the Governing Council.
- Regional Councils will be established for a set period of time to address specific concerns and situations that affect many states or regions. These councils will be called by the Prime Minister. The council will be made up of the Chief Ministers of States and the Lieutenant Governors of UTs in the region. The council shall be chaired by the NITI Aayog chairman or his nominee.
- The Prime Minister shall propose experts and specialists with current and relevant topic knowledge as special invitees.
- The following will be the full-time organisational framework:
The Prime Minister is the Chairperson.
Vice-Chairperson: The Prime Minister will designate this person.
Members: Members who work fulltime.
Part-time members: a maximum of two from prestigious universities, research institutes, and other similar organisations. Part-time employees will be rotated every day.
