ATS Full Form

ATS is a special police force that prevents terrorist acts in the country. ATS officers are trained to combat all types of terrorist attacks. This special team collaborates with the Indian government’s intelligence agencies, RAW and IB.  The functions of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) are to obtain information on anti-terrorism activities operating in any part of the country, Coordination and exchange information with central information centres. Liaising with similar agencies in other provinces, tracking and eliminating mafia activities and other organised crime syndicates, detecting fraud and drug trafficking, etc. The ATS has failed a number of terrorist acts in various parts of India. 

Duties of the ATS

• The ATS collaborates with intelligence agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau and the Research and Analysis Wing
• The ATS collects data on terrorist activities and anti-national developments 
• ATS monitors terrorist organisations’ plans and tracks their activities silently
• In collaboration with the Narcotics Control Bureau, the ATS team monitors mafia practices and demolishes rackets
• From a security perspective, the main task of ATS is to identify such sensitive areas and people, which are used by anti-land agents for concealment/occupation
• Arresting any kind of suspicious people and getting information from them and contacting government units and intermediate agencies etc
• Taking appropriate action after obtaining information relating to the existence of any terrorist group in the country and identifying the people who offer them asylum, and taking legal action against them
• Investigating the activities of organised terrorists with links to foreign intelligence agencies
• Taking legal action against the people, agents and mafia involved in many acts or crimes in the country such as explosives, smuggling money, arms trafficking

The Anti-Terrorism Unit is closely monitored to combat counter-terrorism in the country. It protects civilians from terrorist attacks, destroys bombs, and detonates land mines. ATS travels abroad in secret to collect information on harmful programs and related developments. In the event of any terrorist organisation being identified, ATS disrupts the action in collaboration with RAW and IB.

How to Join

• Since the full definition of ATS refers to anti-terrorism activities, there is no direct evaluation of ATS affiliate employment. In other words, since ATS is a national issue, you cannot join a group. However, you can prepare for the Civil Service Exam and join RAW or IB. Alternatively, you can apply for the NSG as an employee of the Department of Defence
• To join ATS, annual government applications are invited from the police and PAC (Provincial Armed Constabulary) staff
• There is always military training available for those interested in joining
• The whole process is completely confidential, and such soldiers seeking to become ATS commandos must obtain written permission from their company commander
• Based on their capacity and quality, their listing is prepared and sent to the ATS centre. This list includes complete information about their strengths and abilities

About ATS Exam

• Soldiers who successfully complete the test were sent to ATS training centres for training for the first time

This training is provided by soldiers who join ATS at various centres throughout the country.
