- To handle radiological emergencies in the public domain, the NDMA has developed a training program for police and NDRF personnel as part of a pilot project on national-level preparedness for radiological emergencies.
- This pilot scheme is designed to detect and prevent accidents involving radioactive material as well as malicious acts.
- Providing simple monitoring instruments and personal protection equipment to about 930 police stations around the country, including all capital cities and union territories, as well as other major cities, in order to detect the types of cases indicated above.
- Prepare NDRF and state/UT police personnel to deal with Mobile Radiation Detection System equipment in emergency scenarios.
