India Disaster Resource Network

India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN) is a web based platform, for managing the inventory of equipment, skilled human resources and critical supplies for emergency response. Primary focus of IDRN portal is to enable the decision makers to find answers on availability of equipment and human resources required to combat any emergency situation. This database will also enable them to assess the level of preparedness for specific disasters.

  • IDRN is a nationwide database of electronic resources that gathers data on equipment and staff from districts, states, and the federal government.
  • This platform, in emergency responses, allows organisations to manage supplies, skilled human resources, and equipment inventories on a web-based platform.
  • IDRN’s main purpose is to offer information to decision-makers on the availability of equipment and human resources needed for effective emergency response.
  • Additionally, it can help to assess the disaster preparedness level through this database.
  • At the National Informatics Centre in New Delhi, the inventory of resources is available online. Data uploaded to the portal can only be accessed by authorised Government officials, and district authorities are responsible for data collection and updating.
  • The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) is in charge of the portal’s general administration, including data monitoring and maintenance at the central level.
  • A District Informatics Officer gives access to current disaster management resources from various line departments/agencies, as well as uploading them to the portal, along with data from the District Collectors/ Magistrates.
