An intergovernmental conference called the Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR) is conducted to talk about disaster prevention. After the Hyogo Framework for Action was adopted, its first meeting was held in Beijing in August 2005. (2005-2015). Seven times the conference has been held in conjunction with the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR). India was one of the five nations that was severely affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and it took the lead in supporting the creation of new regulations for disaster risk management.
- In order to keep track of and share the progress of the country, the AMCDRR was devised as a regional platform for Asia- Pacific countries.
- It meets twice a year and is a vehicle for dialogue between Ministers involved in Disaster Management at the national and regional levels and for developing plans and policies in line with the global framework on disaster risk reduction.
- AMCDRR held its first meeting in China in August 2005, and since then, seven conference meetings have taken place to enhance and promote the implementation of SFDRR and HFA into regional cooperation.
- AMCDRR is frequently assisted by the ISDR Asia Partnership (IAP), which has a meeting prior to the main conference. In 2007, India held the 2nd AMCDRR, and it hosted the 7th AMCDRR in 2016.
