Key Features of PMDDKY:

• Annual Outlay: ₹24,000 crore per year for 6 years (2025–2031).
• Target Beneficiaries: 1.7 crore farmers across India.
• Focus Areas:
  • Post-harvest storage at panchayat and block levels
  • Improved irrigation facilities
  • Access to long-term and short-term credit
  • Crop diversification, soil health, and water conservation
  • Promotion of natural and organic farming

District Selection Criteria:

• 100 districts will be identified based on:
  • Low productivity
  • Low cropping intensity
  • Low credit disbursement
• Each State will have at least one district selected.

Implementation Strategy:

• Convergence Model: Combines 36 schemes from various ministries.
• Modelled on the Aspirational District Programme.
• District Agriculture Plans will be created by District Dhan Dhaanya Samitis, involving progressive farmers.
• Monthly monitoring at district, state, and national levels.

Expected Outcomes:

• Higher agricultural productivity
• Increased local livelihoods and value addition
• Sustainable farming with reduced input dependence
• Boost in self-reliance and food security

Why in News?

• The Union Cabinet has approved the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, merging 36 schemes of 11 Ministries to promote agricultural productivity and sustainability.
