Key Features of PMDDKY:
- Annual Outlay: ₹24,000 crore per year for 6 years (2025–2031).
- Target Beneficiaries: 1.7 crore farmers across India.
- Focus Areas:
- Post-harvest storage at panchayat and block levels
- Improved irrigation facilities
- Access to long-term and short-term credit
- Crop diversification, soil health, and water conservation
- Promotion of natural and organic farming
District Selection Criteria:
- 100 districts will be identified based on:
- Low productivity
- Low cropping intensity
- Low credit disbursement
- Each State will have at least one district selected.
Implementation Strategy:
- Convergence Model: Combines 36 schemes from various ministries.
- Modelled on the Aspirational District Programme.
- District Agriculture Plans will be created by District Dhan Dhaanya Samitis, involving progressive farmers.
- Monthly monitoring at district, state, and national levels.
