    • The 2,220 MW Oju Hydroelectric Project has received environmental clearance from an expert panel of the Union Environment Ministry.
    • It is proposed on the Subansiri river in Taksing (Arunachal Pradesh) near the China border.
    • It will be the largest hydroelectric project in the Subansiri basin in terms of capacity.

    Other Hydropower Projects in Subansiri Basin:

    • Other planned projects include Niare, Naba, Nalo, Dengser, Upper Subansiri, and Lower Subansiri.
    • The Oju project will be developed by Oju Subansiri Hydro Power Corporation Pvt. Ltd.

    Why in News?

    Recently, Oju Hydroelectric Project has been granted environmental clearance despite outdated cumulative impact studies.
