About Namo Drone Didi Scheme

  • It is a government scheme under the Sashakt Nari-Viksit Bharat programme launched in March 2024.
  • The initiative aims to boost economic empowerment and financial autonomy for women, especially in rural areas.
  • The initiative aims to equip 15,000 women-led Self-help groups (SHGs) with agricultural drones for crop monitoring, fertilizer spraying, and seed sowing.
  • This will also create additional income opportunities for many women.

National Mission on Natural farming: 

  • Aim: To promote sustainable agricultural practices, reduce dependency on chemical inputs, and enhance soil health and farmer income.
  • It comes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
  • The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) in India promotes natural farming through the Bhartiya Prakritik Krishi Paddhati Programme (BPKP).
  • One crore farmers will be introduced to natural farming, supported by certification and branding, with ₹365.64 crore allocated for the National Mission on Natural Farming.

About Self-help groups (SHGs):

  • These are small groups of individuals with similar challenges who support each other in solving their problems.
  • SHGs began in India in the early 1990s, with significant development in 1992 through the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) initiative.
