About Cotton Corporation of India (CCI):
- Government Entity: CCI is a Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) under the Ministry of Textiles.
- Established: It was set up in July 1970.
- Headquarters: Located in Navi Mumbai.
Objectives of CCI:
- Ensures fair distribution of cotton to different industry stakeholders.
- Supports cotton farmers by purchasing cotton at a Minimum Support Price (MSP) when market prices drop.
- Works to stabilise cotton prices, helping both farmers and the textile sector.
Why in News?
- CCI is expected to buy over 100 lakh bales of cotton at MSP by September 30, 2025.
