About Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG):
- Launched: First held in 2018 as Khelo India School Games; renamed to Khelo India Youth Games in 2019.
- Initiative under: Khelo India Programme by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
- Objective:
- To revive the sports culture at the grassroots level.
- To identify and nurture young sporting talent.
- Eligibility:
- School students below 17 years of age.
- College students below 21 years of age.
- Format: A multi-disciplinary national-level competition.
Past Edition (2024)
- 6th edition: Held from 19th to 31st January 2024.
- Host state: Tamil Nadu – in Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, and Coimbatore.
Why in News?
- PM Modi inaugurates the 7th edition of Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), which will be held from 4th to 15th May 2025 in Bihar.
