While a well is being drilled, telemetry transmits formation evaluation and drilling mechanics information. Measurement and logging while drilling are two of these processes. Drilling equipment receives information from thousands of feet below the ground and transmits it to surface sensors. The demodulation is done through the drilling hole. Telemetry gives transportation companies useful information about the performance of vehicles and drivers by collecting data from sensors placed in the vehicle. The purpose of this is many-fold, including insurance rating, staff monitoring, and expected maintenance. In addition to measuring traffic flow and vehicle lengths along with weights, telemetry is also used to connect traffic counters to data recording services.
