The exam of the Staff Selection Commission for Junior Engineer is conducted in two phases- Paper I, which is known as Computer based examination and Paper II, which is known as Descriptive test. Aspirants preparing for SSC JE must be aware of the exam pattern and the guidelines set by the conducting body. The details regarding the exam pattern are given below-

- Candidates applying for Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying & Contracts) must attempt Part-A (Civil & Structural) of Paper-I and Paper-II, while candidates applying for Junior Engineer (Electrical) must attempt Part-B (Electrical), and candidates applying for Junior Engineer (Mechanical) must attempt Part-C (Mechanical) of Paper-I and Paper-II failing which their application will not be accepted.
- Only Objective Type, Multiple Choice questions will be included in Paper I. The questions will be in both the languages – English and Hindi.
- In Paper I, there will be a 0.25 point deduction for each incorrect answer. As a result, candidates are recommended to take this into consideration when answering the questions.
- For Paper-II only, candidates are permitted to carry their own Slide–Rule, Logarithm Table, Calculator, and Steam Table. For Paper-I, they are not permitted to take such help.
- After the examination, the Commission will post tentative answer keys for Paper I on its website. On payment of Rs 100/- each question, candidates may review the Answer Keys and submit online comments, if any, within the time limit imposed by the Commission. Any objections to the Answer Keys received via the online mode within the time restriction set by the Commission at the time of publishing the Answer Keys will be investigated before the Answer Keys are finalised, and the Commission’s decision will be final. Any other forms of communication, such as a letter, an application, an email, or a phone call, will be ignored.
- Candidates’ marks in Paper I will be normalised using the formula issued by the Commission and these adjusted scores will be used to calculate final merit and cut-off marks.
- The Paper-II will need to be completed in Hindi or English. Sections of the paper done in Hindi as well as English will receive 0 points.
- On the cover page of the Answer Book, candidates must write their accurate Roll Number and Subject in the spaces provided. In the Answer Book, candidates must additionally sign and leave a left-hand thumb impression in the appropriate columns. Answer books that do not include the Roll Number, Subject, Signature, or Left-Hand Thumb Impression will not be examined, and such applicants will receive a zero.
- Candidates must not enter any personal information in the Answer Book, such as their name, roll number, phone number, or address (Paper-II). Candidates who do not follow these instructions will receive zero marks.
- The examination dates listed in the Notice are only indicative. Any change in the examination schedule will only be communicated to candidates via the Commission’s website.
- In the Examination, there will be no option for reevaluation or re-checking of scores.
