Apart from the usual citizen airports, there are also a set of defence airports in India. The Indian Armed Forces control all of the nation’s defence airports as it utilises them as an airbase. When a section of a military airport is designated as a civil enclave and handed over to the Airports Authority of India (AAI), it is utilised to begin commercial aviation operations.
