This scheme of IPR awareness workshops/seminars helps teach the basics of intellectual property rights to the electronics and IT sectors across India. It is a plan by the Department Of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Government of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. As part of our ongoing support for Information Technology (IT) and Electronics Industry Promotion (EIPR), the Directorate of Electronics and Information Technology (DEIT) is organising a Scheme to Support IPR Awareness Workshops/seminars. The Scheme will support the activities of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) under its “IPR Awareness Campaign”.
What is this Scheme?
IPR awareness workshops are a means of helping companies understand the importance of protecting their intellectual property. These seminars help companies protect their creations from being copied by others and retrieve their IP if stolen.
No matter what industry your company is in, there is a need for you to protect your IP. If you fail to do so, you risk losing profits and business if someone else takes your idea and turns it into something much more profitable than what you have created. You must accept these steps to prevent such losses.
A suitable IPR awareness workshop will educate attendees on how IP can be stolen and give them tips on detecting theft when it happens. The theft could be through employees or contractors copying your work without permission or paying royalties as expected.
Workshop attendees will also learn about other ways their IP can be stolen, including online theft and hiring foreign workers who copy work and send it home.
Objective
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is one of the central departments of India’s Government that undertakes various electronics and information technology initiatives. One such initiative is called the Intellectual Property Rights. The electronics and information technology ministry promotes awareness about product review fraud by asking people to inform the government. They’ve created a website called “IPR awareness” because it is a governmental initiative. Asking people to notify the government of product review fraud is an anti-fraud initiative.
The objectives of an IPR awareness are as follows:
- To recognise the rights of individuals to protect their creativity.
- To recognise that individuals don’t need to depend upon copyright to protect their creative endeavours.
- To provide a forum for information exchange and education concerning intellectual property issues in a rapidly changing technological environment.
- To develop an appreciation and better understanding by the general public of the nature and value of the intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and related rights.

Conclusion
IPR awareness programs and seminars are a great way to educate those around you in the E&IT sector about how best to protect their assets and interests and be more efficient in their work and day-to-day routines. PR Awareness Workshops are suitable for the industry, but an IPR Resource Center needs to carry out IPR awareness campaigns to make them work regularly. IPR awareness workshops are essential for the growth of a nation. Awareness of Intellectual Property Rights will help protect national patents and bring investments and development to a country.
