History of Durgiana Temple’s Beginnings

This article highlights the History of Durgiana Temple and also briefs about Shree Lakshmi Narain Mandir and Bara Hanuman Mandir

Punjab is a holy land, old land with archaeological treasures and land palaces and temples. Durgiana Temple, located just outside the Lohgarh Gate, is modelled after the Golden Temple and attracts sages and experts of Hindu scriptures from India. Visitors can reach the 16th-century Hindu temple of Durgiana by walking via the tiny tunnels leading away from the Golden Temple complex. The Temple resembles the Golden Temple rather than conventional Hindu temple architecture in its current shape, form, and structure. Durgiana Temple, an important Hindu religious pilgrimage site, is located in northern India. It is located in Punjab’s Amritsar city.

History:

The Shree Durgiana Mandir in Amritsar is a Hindu pilgrimage site. Pilgrims come from worldwide to visit this Temple, not just from India. It has evolved into a centre of Hindu renaissance and regeneration over time. The Durgiana complex, as it is commonly called, takes its name from the Goddess Durga. This association with Goddess Durga has socio-cultural implications, as Goddess Durga is traditionally worshipped for protection and health as warriors are deployed to battle. The Mandir is easily accessible by rail, road, and air and is conveniently located in the city’s heart. Because of its mythical and historical ties, the sacred city of Amritsar, which was created by the fourth Sikh Guru Ram Dass Ji, has taken on a special significance in Hindu cosmology. Amritsar is incredibly precious to Hindus since it is thought that the Lav-Kush and their mother Mata Sita spent their early childhood in the ashram of Bhagwan Maharishi Balmiki Ji in Amritsar.

It is only a few yards from the railway station and 1.5 kilometres from the bus stop. Amritsar has been a holy city since Lord Rama, Maryada Parshotam, visited it. Together with their mother, Mata Sita, Lav Kush grew up in Maharishi Balmiki’s Ashram on this land. On this land, King Ishvaku, Surya Devta’s grandson, performed several Yagyas. The fourth Guru of the Sikhs, Sh. Amar Dass Ji built the city of Amritsar. Durgiana Mandir is a holy and pious place managed by the Durgiana Committee (Regd.). The Trust uses the Temple’s gifts and other resources for different programs that benefit society regardless of faith, caste, or creed. The Hindu gods and goddesses Lakshmi Narain, Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Radha Krishna Ji, Shree Hanuman Ji, Lord Shiva, and Satnarain may all be found here. There is a steady stream of devotees throughout the day and into the evening. The Gods’ blessings meet everyone’s desires.

Shree Lakshmi Narain Mandir

The major Mandir is located here. The idea for this majestic Temple to be built on the holy ground of Amritsar City was conceived in 1920. The famous Hindu philosopher, reformist, and Karamyogi Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya were instrumental in raising finances for this worthy cause. Both Sh.Guru Har Sahai Mal Kapoor and Sh. Nathu Mal Rang Wale put forth a lot of effort to raise money and plan. Finally, on the 7th of October 1925, on Dussehra Day, Ganga Dasmi, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya laid the foundation of this Temple. Guru Harsh Sahai Mal Kapoor is facing the shrine in a worshipping position.

Darshan Deori is the Temple’s main gate, made of silver and measures 12*12 feet. The idols of Maa Durga and Ganesha to the left and right of the door bless the devotees. The entire Temple is submerged in water. The bridge of 18.5 is the only way to go to the Temple. Lakshmi Narain, standing on the bridge, is touching the hearts of all who pass by. The idols are so calm and appealing that it is impossible to resist sitting before them for an extended period. Ram Darbar is to the left of this Temple, and Radha Krishan and Govardhan Maharaj are to the right.

Bara Hanuman Mandir:

This Temple is located to the northwest of the main Temple. A corridor from the parikrama leads to the Temple’s backside. According to legend, Lord Rama conducted Ashwamegh Yagya. Under the King’s laws, a horse was authorised to pass through the regions. The horse passed through any territory deemed under the King’s jurisdiction. Lav and Kush caught the horse throughout this activity. As Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughan attempted to free the horse during the battle, they became unconscious. At this location, Hanuman Ji was also apprehended and bound. When Lav and Kush learned of the relationships between all of them, Amrit was rescued from the Devtas. Bharat and Shatrughan and their army were brought to consciousness with the intervention of this Amrit unconscious Lakshman.
